Vice President Vance Honors Troops with Thanksgiving Visit
Vice President JD Vance, his wife Usha, and their children journeyed to Fort Campbell, a major Army installation on the Kentucky-Tennessee border, to express gratitude to the men and women serving our nation. The visit, which included an early Thanksgiving meal, was a heartfelt gesture of support for service members and their families.
The Warrior Restaurant, the base’s dining hall, was transformed for the occasion. Decorated with autumn colors and festive centerpieces, the hall set the stage for a traditional Thanksgiving feast. Turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, and other holiday favorites were served, offering a taste of home to those stationed far from their loved ones.
Vance, a Marine Corps veteran himself, engaged with the soldiers, thanking them for their dedication and posing for photos. His presence visibly boosted morale among troops from the 101st Airborne Division and the 5th Special Forces Group, units known for their bravery and commitment.
The visit aligns with the current administration’s focus on strengthening support for military families and service members. Understanding the sacrifices made by these individuals and their families, the administration seeks to ensure they have the resources and recognition they deserve.
The atmosphere inside the Warrior Restaurant was charged with anticipation long before the Vice President arrived. Soldiers filled the hall, eager to partake in the holiday meal and interact with the visiting dignitaries.
When the Vance family entered, a wave of applause filled the room. They joined the serving line, dishing out Thanksgiving fare with smiles and warm greetings. The Vice President made a point of personally thanking each soldier, inquiring about their units and experiences. Usha and the children efficiently managed the line, with Mirabel and Vivek taking pride in distributing dinner rolls.
For the soldiers present, the event was more than just a free meal. It was a symbol of appreciation from the nation’s leadership, a reminder that their service is valued and honored. The warmth and generosity displayed by the Vance family created a memorable experience for everyone involved.
During his visit, Vice President Vance addressed the troops, expressing deep gratitude for their service. He emphasized the critical role they play in protecting the United States, describing them as the nation’s “sword and shield.” His words resonated throughout the auditorium, capturing the attention of the assembled soldiers.
Drawing on his own experiences as a Marine veteran in Iraq, Vance shared anecdotes of the professionalism and dedication that unite warriors across generations. He also acknowledged a young paratrooper recently deployed to Eastern Europe, highlighting the sacrifices being made by service members around the world.
In addition to the public events, Vice President Vance held a private meeting with Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll. The two discussed important matters related to national security and military readiness. Driscoll, a trusted advisor, had recently returned from high-level talks in the UAE with Russian envoys, following a diplomatic mission to Kyiv where he presented the administration’s proposed cease-fire plan to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss these critical developments and coordinate future strategies.
Following the meal and speeches, Vice President Vance spent additional time shaking hands and posing for photos with the soldiers. His willingness to engage with the troops on a personal level further solidified the bond between the administration and the military community.
