The United States is taking a stand for its taxpayers and its own interests by stepping back from several international groups. The State Department said recently that America is moving away from what it sees as an old-fashioned way of working with other countries. This system, they say, has made American taxpayers foot the bill for many global organizations.
President Trump has ordered the U.S. to withdraw from 66 of these international organizations. He believes too much money is being spent on groups that don’t help America.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained that many of these groups have become inefficient and don’t always act in America’s best interest. He said that staying in these organizations would be turning our backs on what’s best for our nation.
This doesn’t mean the U.S. is giving up on being a world leader. Instead, it wants to find better ways to work with other countries – ways that are more fair to American citizens and that truly benefit America. The President is making sure that American tax dollars are spent wisely and that America’s voice is heard.
