Russia Launches Attack on Ukraine
KYIV, Ukraine – Reports from Ukraine indicate that Russia launched a significant drone and missile attack across the country Wednesday.
Ukrainian officials have reported casualties. The attacks appear to be focused on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk stated that workers will begin assessing damage and making repairs as soon as it is safe to do so.
In the Kyiv region, officials reported deaths, including children, after a house was set ablaze. Additional casualties were reported in the Dnipro district of Kyiv, where a fire broke out in a residential building.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that windows were blown out of a medical facility, and debris was found at another residential building. Emergency services responded to fires and damage in other districts of the capital as well.
The attacks also targeted other cities in Ukraine, including Zaporizhzhia and Izmail.
These events follow the postponement of a planned meeting between President Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. President Trump is expected to discuss these and related issues with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte at the White House.
