Two women in Florida found themselves in a serious situation after falling nearly 50 feet into a quarry on Christmas Day. Fortunately, they were rescued the following morning, December 26.
The Citrus County Fire Rescue received an emergency call after the women fell while near Hole 17 on the Quarry Golf Course at Black Diamond Ranch. Their ordeal went unnoticed until the next day when help was finally on the way.
When rescuers arrived, they found the women conscious and breathing, despite their terrifying fall. Unfortunately, bad weather made it impossible for air rescue operations to assist. However, with help from the maintenance staff at Black Diamond Ranch, a successful “low-angle rescue” was carried out using golf carts to bring the women to safety.
The women were stabilized at the scene before being taken to a nearby trauma hospital. Authorities have not disclosed their names or the extent of their injuries.
Citrus County Fire Rescue thanked everyone involved for their quick response and teamwork, expressing hope for a speedy recovery for the two women.
