A Texas man is now facing murder charges following the tragic death of his friend during a dangerous game involving a firearm.
Sean Odonnell, 37, and Aaron Prout, 34, were allegedly taking turns shooting at each other while wearing a Kevlar helmet in a house located in Spring, about 30 miles north of Houston. This unusual and risky activity took a deadly turn, which has left many in disbelief.
On August 17, deputies responded to a call that was initially reported as a possible suicide. However, upon arriving at the scene, they found Prout, a British national living in Texas, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez expressed skepticism about the suicide story, stating that “things weren’t adding up.” As a result, detectives charged Odonnell with murder on August 28, and he was subsequently taken into custody at the Harris County Jail.
Odonnell is held on a bond of $300,000 and is expected to appear in court again on September 2. It’s still unclear whether he has entered a plea or hired an attorney.
