The White House is introducing a new video series called “Road to Independence,” leading up to America’s 250th birthday. This series is part of a year-long celebration organized by the Trump administration, set to kick off on Memorial Day.
The series is designed to remember key moments in American history, launching on the anniversary of the first battles in the Revolutionary War. Produced in collaboration with the Department of Education and Hillsdale College, the series aims to educate and celebrate our nation’s heritage.
Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arnn emphasized the importance of understanding our history as part of our collective memory. He expressed President Trump’s eagerness to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a heartfelt remembrance and public engagement.
The first episode of the “Road to Independence” series focuses on the Battle of Lexington and Concord, which marked the beginning of America’s fight for independence. This pivotal event is narrated by a history professor from Hillsdale College. The White House will continue to roll out new episodes, each highlighting significant events in the history of American independence.
Moreover, in January, President Trump established a task force dedicated to planning this grand celebration, engaging various sectors, including state and local governments, educational institutions, and nonprofits. This initiative shows a strong commitment to honor America’s rich heritage as we approach this momentous anniversary in July 2026.
As part of this weekend’s commemoration, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will present a reading of the well-known poem “Paul Revere’s Ride,” honoring the legendary midnight ride that warned colonists of British troops advancing in April 1775.
Leavitt remarked on the president’s dedication to upholding the nation’s legacy, underlining that the “Road to Independence” series is a testament to sharing the remarkable story of our country as we prepare for a united celebration.
