Is Protecting Americans Racist Now?
Representative Janelle Bynum of Oregon threw a fit after President Trump’s State of the Union. What set her off? The President simply asked lawmakers to stand if they believed the government’s first job is to protect American citizens. Nearly all Democrats stayed glued to their seats.
Bynum whined that there was “thinly veiled racist language, anti-immigrant language” in Trump’s question. She called the whole thing “uncomfortable.” So, according to Bynum, wanting to protect Americans is now racist. Unbelievable!
Democrats Dishonor Military Heroes
President Trump honored several military members with awards, including the Medal of Honor. Army Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover, wounded in the raid to capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, received the nation’s highest award. One-hundred-year-old Navy Captain Royce Williams, who fought seven Soviet pilots during the Korean War, was also honored.
But Rep. Robin Kelly from Illinois mocked the event, sneering, “It was like an award show, ‘You get a medal! You get a medal! You get a medal!’” Disgusting. It is appalling to see these so-called representatives belittling the sacrifices of our brave men and women in uniform.
A Glimmer of Patriotism?
It wasn’t all doom and gloom. Even some Democrats were forced to their feet when President Trump celebrated the U.S. men’s hockey team for winning their first Olympic gold medal since 1980.
President Trump quipped, “Our country is winning again.” He also noticed, “That’s the first time I’ve ever seen them get up…And, actually, not all of them did get up.” Still, a small victory for patriotism, even if temporary.
The Broader Impact: America Last?
This episode exposes a dangerous trend within the Democrat party: a reluctance to prioritize American citizens. The idea that securing our borders and putting our own people first is somehow “racist” is absurd. It’s a betrayal of the very foundation of our nation. The Democrats seem more concerned with appeasing radical factions and pushing a globalist agenda than with serving the people who elected them.
What does this mean for the future? If Democrats continue down this path, we can expect more open borders, more taxpayer money going to illegal immigrants, and less focus on the needs of American families. It’s a recipe for disaster. We need leaders who are not afraid to put America first, without apology.
