A prominent Catholic bishop is set to attend President Donald Trump’s upcoming address to Congress. Bishop Robert Barron, who founded the Catholic media organization Word On Fire, will join the event as a guest of Representative Riley Moore, a Republican from West Virginia.
Moore has also invited Barron to lead a Catholic Mass for lawmakers prior to the address. In a statement, Moore emphasized the impact of Barron’s work, stating that through Word On Fire, the bishop has greatly aided many in discovering or returning to the Catholic faith through modern media.
“I’m honored to host him during President Trump’s address, and I am excited for him to celebrate Mass with us beforehand,” Moore remarked.
Bishop Barron expressed his appreciation for the invitation, describing himself as a “student of history” and thanking Moore for including him in this important event. He leads the Diocese of Winona–Rochester in Minnesota and is known for promoting Catholic teachings through digital platforms.
President Trump will deliver his first speech to a joint session of Congress since returning to the White House for a second term. According to senior advisor Jason Miller, Trump plans to discuss various topics, including extending the 2017 tax cuts, ambitions for space exploration, countering China’s advancements in artificial intelligence, and addressing the rising cost of living following the previous Democratic administration. Miller underscored the importance of enhancing border security and maintaining global peace through strength and respect.
