President Donald Trump recently announced that he has ordered U.S. military strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen. In a bold statement on Truth Social, the former president described these strikes as a necessary response to the ongoing threats from Houthi terrorists, who he said have been attacking American and allied ships and aircraft.
Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation, pointing out that the Houthis have engaged in a continuous campaign of violence, impacting not just security but also the global economy. He criticized President Biden’s handling of the crisis, claiming it lacked strength, which allowed the Houthis to escalate their attacks.
The former president highlighted that it has been over a year since a U.S.-flagged commercial ship could safely navigate through critical waterways like the Suez Canal or the Gulf of Aden. He noted that previous assaults on American warships have resulted in significant financial losses and endangered lives.
In a direct warning to the Houthis, Trump declared, “Your time is up, and your attacks must stop, starting today. If they don’t, hell will rain down upon you like nothing you have ever seen before!”
This announcement follows recent incidents where the Houthis launched missiles at U.S. military aircraft, marking a new level of aggression. Trump had previously re-designated the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization, a move that reversed the Biden administration’s earlier stance.
In his statement, Trump also pointed out the Houthis’ links to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which has supported various terrorist groups. He underscored that such actions pose serious risks to American troops and their allies in the region.
