Trump Celebrates New Golf Course in Scotland, Discusses Foreign Policy Initiatives
President Donald Trump proudly opened his latest golf course, Trump International Golf Links, in Aberdeen, Scotland, on Tuesday. Standing alongside his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, Trump took a moment to reflect on his administration’s foreign policy successes during his visit.
“In my opinion, this is a special year for us,” Trump stated. He promised to continue making countries strong and great, emphasizing the progress achieved in various global conflicts. “We did one yesterday; we stopped about five wars. That’s much more important than playing golf,” he remarked, making a clear distinction between leisure and national priorities.
The president pointed out that his foreign policy has significantly impacted several regions, citing recent ceasefire agreements reached in Thailand and Cambodia. He also mentioned the U.S. efforts to help ease tensions between India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, and in Central Africa between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. “We even managed to persuade Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen to agree to a ceasefire after U.S.-U.K. strikes earlier this year,” he noted.
While discussing the recent turmoil in the Middle East, Trump explained that U.S. and Israeli negotiators had withdrawn from ceasefire talks in Qatar. He expressed disappointment that Hamas did not appear to be negotiating in good faith, undermining efforts to secure the safe return of hostages and establish a better environment for the people of Gaza.
During the ceremony, a reporter raised questions regarding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments on the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Trump, reflecting on the images he had seen, responded, “Based on what I’ve seen on television, those children look very hungry.”
Throughout the trip, Trump continued to emphasize the importance of trade agreements, having met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss tariffs between the U.S. and the European Union. “We just signed a very big deal with the U.K. and the European Union,” he mentioned, highlighting its potential benefits for both parties.
The new golf course is the third owned by the Trump Organization in Scotland, following the acquisition of Turnberry in 2014 and another nearby course established in 2012. The president praised the unique design of the Aberdeen course, stating, “These are very hard to build, and you won’t see them built anymore.”
In a heartfelt moment, Trump also acknowledged Sarah Malone, the Executive Vice President of Trump International Golf Links, celebrating her dedication to the properties. He reflected on his personal connection to Scotland, noting his mother’s heritage and the family’s frequent visits to the country.
As he wraps up his five-day visit promoting his luxury properties and pursuing diplomatic efforts, Trump’s commitment to both leisure and leadership remains evident.
