Former President Donald Trump has indicated he may consider running for a third term in office. In a recent phone interview with NBC News, Trump expressed that he enjoys his work and is “not joking” about the possibility of returning to the Oval Office.
“A lot of people want me to do it,” he mentioned, emphasizing his focus on the current term but acknowledging the early discussions about a potential future campaign.
While he feels it’s too early to make any definitive plans regarding a third term, Trump shared some thoughts on how it could be accomplished. He mentioned various methods, including a scenario in which Vice President JD Vance could run for the presidency and then pass the torch back to Trump after winning.
Trump’s ongoing appeal among Republicans is notable, especially after a resolution was introduced by Rep. Andy Ogles from Tennessee. This proposal aims to amend the Constitution to allow for a third presidential term, countering the 22nd Amendment that currently restricts individuals to two terms. Ogles believes that Trump has the capability to restore the nation and desires the time needed to fulfill that vision.
This proposed amendment would permit an individual to serve three terms in office, as long as they do not hold consecutive terms exceeding two four-year periods. Ogles stated that Trump “has proven himself” as a leader during a challenging time for the country and requires more time to achieve significant accomplishments.
As discussions around this potential amendment develop, Trump’s supporters continue to rally for his leadership, believing it is essential for America’s future.
