Trump Urges Republicans to Pass ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ by July 4
Former President Donald Trump is encouraging House Republicans to swiftly pass what he calls his "big, beautiful bill." He highlighted the importance of getting the legislation signed into law by the July 4 holiday, reminding lawmakers that they were elected to deliver results for the American people.
The bill, which amounts to $3.3 trillion, received widespread support in the Senate, with nearly all Republican senators voting in favor. However, a few Republican senators, including Thom Tillis, Rand Paul, and Susan Collins, opposed the measure, and not a single Democrat supported it.
Following its passage, Trump took to social media to rally support. He declared, "It is no longer a ‘House Bill’ or a ‘Senate Bill.’ It is everyone’s Bill." He emphasized the significance of the legislation as a major win for the Republican Party.
Trump stated that the true beneficiaries would be the American people, who he believes will enjoy benefits like permanently lower taxes, higher wages, secure borders, and a stronger military. He assured his supporters that critical programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security are not being cut, but rather strengthened by eliminating waste and fraud.
In a further push, Trump called on House Republicans to unite and overcome any dissenting opinions among their ranks. He urged them to send the bill to his desk so that they could "enjoy time with their families on the Fourth of July."
He expressed confidence that the bill would pave the way for significant economic growth and prosperity, promising a more robust fiscal future for the nation. "The American people need and deserve it. They sent us here to GET IT DONE!" Trump said.
Despite challenges from some House members who feel the spending cuts in the bill are insufficient, Republican leaders remain determined to ensure the bill reaches the president’s desk by the end of the week.
As the deadline approaches, all eyes will be on how the House responds to Trump’s call for unity around this crucial piece of legislation.
