Trump Announces Ceasefire Between India and Pakistan
In a recent post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump announced a significant development in international relations: India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire. This announcement came after extensive talks facilitated by the United States.
Trump expressed his satisfaction, stating, “Congratulations to both countries on using common sense and great intelligence.” He thanked the involved parties for their attention and cooperation.
The agreement is particularly important given that both nations are nuclear powers, making peaceful relations vital for global security.
Republican House Conference Chair Lisa McClain hailed Trump as "The Peace President" in response to his announcement. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was involved in the diplomatic efforts, stated that he and Vice President JD Vance worked closely with leaders from both countries during these discussions.
In a statement, Rubio commended Prime Ministers Narendra Modi of India and Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan for their decisions to engage in peace talks at a neutral location. He emphasized the wisdom and statesmanship displayed by both leaders.
Vice President Vance also praised the efforts of all involved, expressing gratitude to the Indian and Pakistani leaders for their willingness to pursue peace.
This development signals a hopeful step towards improved relations and stability in a region that has faced heightened tensions for many years.
