President-elect Donald Trump has made significant announcements regarding his choices for U.S. ambassadors to five countries. On Monday, he revealed his nominations for Japan, the Dominican Republic, Austria, Luxembourg, and Uruguay, all of which require Senate confirmation.
Among the nominees is George Edward Glass, a former ambassador to Portugal, who has been selected for the ambassador role in Japan. Trump praised Glass for his strong business background, noting, “As a former President of an Investment Bank, George will bring his business acumen to the Ambassador’s position.” He emphasized Glass’s commitment to putting America first, showcasing his credentials as a graduate of the University of Oregon and a leader in the alumni community.
Another notable pick is Leah Francis Campos, who is set to be the U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic. Trump highlighted her experience as a former CIA Case Officer and her role as a Senior Advisor on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He expressed confidence that Leah would bring her passion for national security to this important position.
For Austria, Trump nominated Arthur Graham Fisher, a successful real estate executive from North Carolina. Trump described Fisher as a staunch supporter of America First policies and a dedicated advocate for U.S. interests abroad.
Stacey Feinberg and Lou Rinaldi have been nominated to serve as ambassadors to Luxembourg and Uruguay, respectively. Trump praised Feinberg’s work as a Broadway producer and her commitment to helping women in business. Rinaldi, who has strong ties to Uruguay, is noted for his business acumen and understanding of the local culture.
Each of these nominees reflects Trump’s commitment to appointing qualified individuals who prioritize American interests and values in their diplomatic roles. The Senate confirmation process will soon assess these nominations as the incoming administration gears up to take office.
