Search Continues for Travis Decker After Tragic Deaths of His Three Daughters
Authorities are searching for Travis Decker, who allegedly killed his three daughters following a court-approved visit. Decker’s ex-wife expressed concerns about his mental state and financial troubles prior to the incident.
On May 30, Decker picked up his daughters—Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5—in Wenatchee, Washington, but he never returned them. Later that night, their mother, Whitney, reported the girls missing, triggering a widespread search.
Tragically, days later, the girls were discovered deceased near their father’s pickup truck at Rock Island Campground. Attempts to locate Decker have so far been unsuccessful.
Whitney mentioned that Travis had seemed unusually quiet on the day he took the girls, describing his behavior as atypical. She told police that his only joys were his children and their pet husky, although he had contemplated rehoming the dog due to his unstable living and financial situations.
Court documents indicate that Decker was facing difficulties, including wage garnishments from unpaid child support. A recent custody ruling had also limited his overnight visits with the girls, reportedly leading him to live in an RV and occasionally stay at shelters.
Now wanted on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping, the authorities have not found any solid evidence to suggest Decker is still in the area. Sheriff Mike Morrison stated that the investigation has involved extensive searches and numerous tips from the public.
“Public awareness is crucial to our efforts,” a spokesperson from the sheriff’s office said, emphasizing the importance of community support in the search.
The ongoing situation is a heartbreaking reminder of the challenges many families face, and residents remain hopeful for a resolution to this tragic case.
