Authorities Continue Search for Father After Tragic Incident
Authorities are actively searching for Travis Decker, a man accused of killing his three daughters. The search intensified after the bodies of Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5, were discovered near Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, Washington, on June 2. This grim finding came three days after the girls were last seen with their father during a scheduled visitation.
Travis Decker, 32, is wanted for three counts of first-degree murder, one count of kidnapping, and additional charges related to custodial interference. Although he was not found at the crime scene, his truck was located nearby, containing significant evidence, including personal items. Importantly, authorities have confirmed that Decker’s dog has been found and is now being cared for by the Humane Society.
Investigators have obtained blood samples from the scene, which indicate the presence of male DNA, as well as samples that are not human. Autopsies on the girls have revealed that they suffocated, and their deaths have been classified as homicides.
As of June 8, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has transferred the search for Decker to federal agencies but continues to lead the criminal investigation. They noted the need to rest local search teams while still keeping communication open with federal authorities.
The public is urged to help locate Travis Decker. He is described as 5’8" tall with black hair and brown eyes and is considered dangerous due to his military past. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to call 911 or contact the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office tip line.
Whitney Decker, the girls’ mother, expressed concern over her ex-husband’s mental health, suggesting he might have taken his own life. “Travis was an involved father but faced struggles that affected his marriage,” she stated.
Authorities continue to seek answers and urge anyone with information to step forward.
