Tragic Discovery of Missing 9-Year-Old
A 9-year-old girl, previously reported missing from Lake George, New York, has sadly been found dead. Authorities initially believed she was abducted, which prompted the issue of an Amber Alert.
The girl, who has been identified as Melina Frattolin, was found in Ticonderoga, NY, just hours after the Amber Alert was announced on July 20. Police revealed that there seemed to be inconsistencies in the timeline provided by her father, Luciano Frattolin, who reported her missing on July 19.
The investigation began when the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Melina’s father at around 9:58 p.m. on that Saturday. After further investigation into the allegations, the sheriff’s office stood down, and the New York State Police took over the case. Officials stated there is currently no evidence to support the claim of abduction, noting that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Initially, the Amber Alert was issued due to concerns for Melina’s safety, stating she might be in “imminent danger.” She was last seen getting into a white van around 9:40 p.m. on the day she went missing.
Both Melina and her father are residents of Canada. The investigation is ongoing as the authorities continue to gather more information about this tragic case.
