A tragic shooting occurred at a park in Minnesota, resulting in one woman’s death and injuries to five men.
On the evening of June 1, around 9:30 p.m., police were alerted to gunfire at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis. Police Chief Brian O’Hara reported during a press conference that as officers arrived, they encountered a chaotic scene with over 100 people in distress.
The gathering at the park was for a barbecue or similar event when an argument escalated into gunfire, according to O’Hara. Investigators believe there were multiple shooters involved in the incident.
At the scene, police found three men who had been shot, and a woman was located in a car near the park’s entrance. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she sadly passed away.
One of the male victims suffered life-threatening injuries, while two others were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds. Additionally, another woman fainted during the chaos that followed the shooting.
Authorities have not yet shared the names of the victims. O’Hara expressed condolences for the woman who lost her life, stating, “Our hearts go out to her and everyone affected by this incident.”
While the woman’s family grieves, investigators are collecting numerous pieces of evidence from the scene. O’Hara described the situation as extensive, noting the significant number of gunshots fired, which he compared to a war zone.
He expressed concern about why individuals would arrive armed at a gathering. O’Hara urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Minneapolis police or CrimeStoppers.
