A British man has confessed to murdering his ex-wife at a cemetery where their son was laid to rest exactly 20 years earlier. Martin Suter, aged 68, admitted to killing Ann Blackwood on July 24, 2023, as confirmed by a local news source after a judge lifted a reporting restriction.
Tragically, their son Christopher was buried in the same cemetery in 2003, marking the poignant date of his mother’s death. Following her murder, Suter was arrested shortly afterwards and has since faced charges in court.
Blackwood, 71, was described by her family as a “loving, caring, kind-hearted” person. They expressed that they are devastated by her loss and highlighted her vibrant lifestyle, which included activities like tennis, sailing, and cycling. Many in the community regarded her as a beloved member.
Witnesses noted that the area surrounding the cemetery is generally known for its low crime rate, making the incident particularly shocking for residents. Suter, who previously held a position with the Green Party, had run for local council elections multiple times.
This case has drawn media attention as the community grapples with the emotional impact of this tragedy.
