## Officer Removed from Game Duty After Interaction with Player
COLLEGE STATION, TX – A Texas A&M University police officer was taken off his assignment during a game on Saturday following an exchange with South Carolina player Nyck Harbor. The incident occurred after Harbor scored a touchdown.
Harbor, a wide receiver for the South Carolina Gamecocks, had just completed an impressive 80-yard play. As he headed toward the tunnel, appearing to favor his right hamstring, he was met by an officer.
Reports indicate that the officer made contact with Harbor and another player, Oscar Adaway III. Following the contact, the officer reportedly spoke sternly to Harbor as he continued toward the field.
The Texas A&M University Police Department acknowledged the incident. The department stated on social media that the officer involved was “relieved of his game-day assignment” and sent home.
The situation drew attention beyond the university. Well-known NBA player LeBron James posted on social media calling for the officer to be suspended.
The touchdown by Harbor had put South Carolina in a strong lead, with the score at 27-3. They extended their lead to 30-3. However, Texas A&M mounted a comeback, ultimately winning the game 31-30.
The second half saw Texas A&M score 28 unanswered points, marking their biggest comeback victory in history. Quarterback Marcel Reed played a key role in the turnaround, throwing for 439 yards and three touchdowns.
Reed overcame a difficult first half, where he had two interceptions and a fumble. His performance in the second half helped keep Texas A&M’s hopes for a College Football Playoff appearance alive.
Texas A&M took the lead for the first time with around 11 minutes left in the game, thanks to a 4-yard run by EJ Smith. However, the Gamecocks nearly turned the tide back in their favor after recovering a fumble.
Ultimately, Texas A&M’s defense secured the win. Dalton Brooks and Cashius Howell sacked South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers on consecutive plays, leading to a fourth-down stop that sealed the victory.
Sellers finished the game with 246 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. South Carolina has now lost their last five games.
The win marked a significant achievement for Texas A&M. It was their largest comeback win, surpassing a 21-point comeback in 2013. Before Saturday’s game, teams in the Southeastern Conference had a 0-286 record since 2004 when trailing by 27 points or more.
The incident involving the officer and Nyck Harbor is under review by the Texas A&M University Police Department. Further details are expected to be released as the review progresses. The focus remains on ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all players and attendees at university sporting events.
