During Milan Fashion Week, Tod’s unveiled its latest womenswear collection for the upcoming fall and winter, showcasing the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship. The event was held at the Gallery of Modern Art and opened with Italian model Carla Bruni, who wore a striking dress made from recycled leather, highlighting the artistry behind Tod’s products.
In a demonstration of skill, artisans were on hand sewing the brand’s iconic Gommino car shoes, proving that traditional craftsmanship continues to thrive even in a modern world. Diego della Valle, the founder of Tod’s, emphasized the importance of artisans by stating, “Machines will never replace the hands of artisans.”
Creative director Matteo Tamburini presented a collection that focused on outerwear, which included tailored leather trenches, shearling furs, and warm wool pea coats. The knitwear designs were form-fitting, paired with unique leather skirts, and featured structured blouses worn with tailored trousers, embodying a confident and professional look.
Tamburini drew inspiration from artists, incorporating their techniques into the clothing, using materials like brushed alpaca wool and patchwork leather. Among the attendees was actress Keira Knightley, who took a front-row seat to witness the blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.
