Brad Pitt Seems to Gain Ground in Legal Battle with Angelina Jolie
Brad Pitt may have just found a significant advantage in his ongoing legal fight with ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
A judge recently sided with Pitt, ordering Jolie to release 22 documents she had previously kept private. These papers reportedly contain Jolie’s personal emails and texts, which could potentially weaken her position in the case.
The dispute began when Jolie sold her share of Château Miraval, a winery they co-owned, to a company connected to the Stoli Group. Pitt argues that this sale violated an agreement they had made with each other.
Legal experts suggest these newly revealed documents could be very important to the case. One lawyer noted that Jolie’s efforts to keep the documents hidden suggest they might contain information damaging to her side.
Another legal professional explained that while disagreements over what information should be shared are common in lawsuits, the fact that Jolie’s lawyers fought so hard against releasing these documents suggests they could be quite harmful to her case.
Jolie’s legal team had argued that the documents were protected by confidentiality agreements. However, Pitt’s team countered that these were simply personal conversations between Jolie and her staff.
Whether or not Jolie’s private messages will become public remains to be seen. A family law attorney pointed out that it’s up to Brad Pitt to decide if these documents are presented in court or made public in any other way.
Pitt and Jolie bought their stake in Château Miraval back in 2008. Following Pitt’s lawsuit, Jolie’s company has accused him of trying to take control of the profitable business after she filed for divorce in 2016.
Nouvel has accused Pitt of mismanaging Château Miraval and wasting money on unnecessary renovations, like spending a million dollars on swimming pool upgrades, according to court documents.
Pitt and Jolie are scheduled to go to court over the winery dispute in 2027.
