A man in Houston has been charged with the murders of a woman and a young child after allegedly holding them hostage in their apartment.
Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29, was discovered sleeping on the couch of the apartment where police found the victims—28-year-old Genene, who is Fisher’s sister, and her 2-year-old daughter, Karlie. This tragic event occurred early on Friday, November 29, at about 3:10 a.m.
Authorities responded to a call indicating that a woman and child were being held against their will in an apartment on Richmond Avenue. Concerned for their safety, the caller mentioned that a man was inside. When officers arrived, they found Fisher and searched the apartment, where they unfortunately discovered the two victims with multiple stab wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
During the arrest, police noted that Fisher had injuries suggesting he had been in a fight and that there was blood on his clothes. He has been charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths and is now held in Harris County Jail.
Records indicate that Fisher had just been released from prison in December 2023 after serving a seven-year sentence for armed robbery. His sentence had been extended due to a contraband offense while incarcerated.
Interestingly, there seemed to have been no prior conflicts between Fisher and his sister before this incident. A neighbor, Emmanuel Thomas, expressed disbelief, saying, “I don’t understand hurting your own sister, hurting a woman, hurting another person, period. But what possessed you to hurt this baby?” He added that there were no signs or warnings about the tragedy that would soon unfold.
Fisher has been denied bond as the investigation continues.
