A man in Texas has been taken into custody after he allegedly stabbed his mother during a dispute over her wallet, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, January 4, when Joseph Anthony Abreu, 35, reportedly broke into his mother’s home in Houston. He demanded her wallet, but when she refused, he is said to have attacked her with a knife.
Emergency responders transported the 58-year-old victim to a hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.
Following the incident, Abreu fled the scene, but police were able to apprehend him the next day. He faces charges of aggravated assault against a family member and burglary with the intent to commit another felony.
As of now, it is unclear if Abreu has an attorney or has entered a plea regarding the charges.
