A 19-year-old man from England, Nicholas Prosper, is facing sentencing for murdering his mother and two siblings. The court proceedings are set for Wednesday, March 19, after he admitted guilt to three counts of murder, among other accusations.
During the hearing at Luton Crown Court, it was revealed that Prosper had aspirations to carry out a deadly attack at his former elementary school, aiming to be known for committing the largest massacre in the 21st Century. The prosecutor, Timothy Cray, stated that evidence indicated Prosper’s primary motivation was a desire for fame, whether good or bad.
On September 13, 2024, Prosper shot and killed his mother, Juliana Falcon, who was 48, along with his brother, Kyle, 16, and his sister, Giselle, 13. Police arrived at the scene after a neighbor reported hearing a disturbance. Prosper was apprehended shortly after, with a loaded shotgun discovered hidden in nearby bushes.
Authorities found that Prosper had been planning a mass shooting at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, where he and his siblings once attended. He had even mentioned a goal of killing 30 students along with two teachers and his family. His plan was interrupted by his mother, who awoke just in time. Prosper was reportedly intending to end his life after the attack.
Evidence of Prosper’s troubling intentions included a note outlining his ambition to create a significant event, and he had researched other mass shootings around the world. Prosecutor Cray detailed how Prosper had practiced by shooting at a teddy bear before the tragic events unfolded.
Furthermore, it was confirmed that Prosper had purchased a gun and ammunition illegally, using a forged license. Following the murders, he posted a video online discussing his shocking plans.
In court, his defense attorney highlighted that Prosper has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, which affected his social skills and contributed to his fixation on school shootings.
Prosper’s actions could have led to a tragedy larger than the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which claimed the lives of 26 people in 2012. The Crown Prosecution Service announced that he will receive his sentencing on March 19.
