Two teenage girls in Louisiana are facing charges after allegedly trying to frame their high school teacher as a sexual predator by claiming he sent inappropriate messages to a student.
The investigation began on December 18, 2024, when detectives were alerted about a male teacher at Central Lafourche High School in Raceland, which is about 45 miles southwest of New Orleans. The report suggested that the teacher had been messaging a 16-year-old female student.
Authorities found that the student and her 15-year-old friend had communicated with the teacher through an online messaging platform. However, upon examining the girls’ phones, investigators discovered that the alleged inappropriate messages were fabricated. Details about the contents of these messages were not disclosed by the sheriff’s office.
Further investigation revealed that the online accounts involved were also fake, as the two girls had sent screenshots to others in an effort to make it appear that the teacher had sent inappropriate messages.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the investigation showed the teacher had not communicated with the girls inappropriately and had no involvement in the claims made against him. In fact, he was deemed a victim in this situation, and one of the girls admitted to their role in the scheme.
The girls were arrested on January 6. They have been charged with false swearing for the purpose of violating public health or safety, cyberstalking, and online impersonation.
After their arrest, authorities stated that the teenagers were placed on electronic monitoring and released to their parents. It remains unclear whether they have entered pleas or hired attorneys.
School Superintendent Jarod Martin expressed shock at the situation, stating that the allegations against the teacher were false and harmful. He praised the swift work of investigators in clarifying the matter and emphasized the importance of protecting teachers’ reputations, noting how such accusations can disrupt the educational environment.
