A teenager in Florida is facing a first-degree murder charge after his mother was found dead in their home. Derek Rosa, who was 13 at the time of the incident, is accused of stabbing his mother, Irina Garcia, multiple times.
According to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, Rosa allegedly took photos of his mother’s body after the stabbing. He then sent these photos to a friend. Prosecutors say this happened before Rosa called the police to report the incident.
The prosecutors also noted the date of the crime, October 12, which is close to Friday the 13th. They claim Rosa was interested in Jason Voorhees, the killer from the “Friday the 13th” movies.
Rosa has pleaded not guilty. The case is ongoing.
