Tragic Case of Kaylee Dutton: Family Friend’s Abuse and Fatal Shooting
A heartbreaking story has emerged from Utah involving 17-year-old Kaylee Dutton. She was reportedly being sexually abused by a family friend named Justin Driffill. Sadly, Kaylee’s life was cut short when she was fatally shot by two men who thought she was stalking them.
Kaylee was killed on January 17 after driving through the townhome community where Driffill lived. On July 23, Driffill, 27, pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor but has not faced charges related to Kaylee’s death.
Dutton’s family believes that the ongoing abuse contributed to her tragic fate. Her mother, Kimberlee Dutton, expressed her feelings, stating, “If it weren’t for that, we truly believe that she wouldn’t have been in that neighborhood that night, and she would still be here.”
The investigation into Driffill began in October 2024 when Kaylee confided in her mother about their inappropriate relationship. Kimberlee shared that Kaylee had opened up to her about the situation after leaving a job where she worked under Driffill.
Authorities found that the two had been communicating on Snapchat, and Driffill acknowledged that he knew Kaylee was underage.
Meanwhile, the two men charged in connection with Kaylee’s death, Michael Hess-Witucki and Ethan Galloway, pleaded guilty to murder charges in April. This case has raised awareness of the impacts of abuse and the tragic consequences it can lead to.
