A teenager was discovered wandering alone in a Michigan town early Sunday morning. The 14-year-old girl claims she was held captive for over a day, prompting police to worry that there may be additional victims involved.
Authorities in Northville Township have arrested 22-year-old Charles Willis on multiple charges, including sexual conduct and kidnapping. The girl was found around 5:30 a.m. on April 27, far from her home, which is two hours away from where she was located.
Investigators discovered that Willis contacted the girl through Snapchat on April 25 and arranged for an Uber to bring her to his residence. After arriving, he allegedly confined her to the basement for more than 24 hours.
Lieutenant Patrick Reinke of the Northville Township Police praised the girl for her bravery in coming forward and sharing her story. Willis faces serious charges, including six counts of criminal sexual conduct, one count of kidnapping, and additional charges related to child exploitation.
Lawyers for Willis have not commented on the case yet, and plea information is not available. Detectives believe there may be more victims and are urging anyone who may have interacted with Willis or other potential predators to reach out for help.
