A former preschool teacher in Florida has been charged with child abuse after allegedly dragging a 4-year-old boy with autism to the ground. The incident reportedly occurred last Tuesday, and the teacher, 48-year-old Alice Wood, was taken into custody after acknowledging that her actions were excessive.
According to reports, Wood initially blamed the boy for throwing crayons at her. However, after further questioning, she expressed regret over her behavior. Following the incident, Wood was dismissed from her position at Kid City USA, a daycare center, as the owner emphasized the center’s commitment to providing the best care for children.
The situation unfolded when the boy’s behavioral technician left the classroom briefly, returning to find the child visibly upset on the floor. Security footage allegedly captured Wood grabbing the boy by his arms and dragging him before forcefully holding him down.
During police interviews, Wood claimed the boy had punched her and thrown crayons but later admitted her approach was wrong. She has been charged with one count of child abuse, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have encouraged anyone suspecting child abuse to reach out to support hotlines for help.
