Taylor Swift Subpoenaed in Legal Dispute Involving Blake Lively
After much speculation, Taylor Swift has been subpoenaed by Justin Baldoni’s legal team as part of his ongoing case against Blake Lively. The trial is set to begin in March 2026. Lively is alleged to have referred to Swift as one of her "dragons" in text messages presented by Baldoni in his complaint.
Swift’s team has responded, emphasizing that she had no involvement in Baldoni’s film, "It Ends With Us." A representative for the singer stated, “Taylor never set foot on the set, nor was she involved in casting or creative decisions. She didn’t score the film, see any edits, or even watch it until weeks after its release.” During 2023 and 2024, Swift was busy with her Eras Tour.
The spokesperson explained that Swift’s only connection to the film was permitting the use of her song "My Tears Ricochet." They expressed concern that the subpoena aims to draw public attention rather than focus on the actual facts of the case.
Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, has indicated that anyone with relevant information could be deposed. He previously mentioned that the decision to involve Swift would be a “game time decision.”
Swift’s friendship with Lively, who is married to Ryan Reynolds, has made her a part of this legal drama. The trouble began when Lively allegedly used Swift’s name to pressure Baldoni into accepting script changes. Baldoni also claimed there was a meeting at Lively and Reynolds’ home where Swift praised Lively’s script, suggesting Baldoni felt compelled to agree to her desires.
A source reported that Swift was "really hurt" by the entire situation, indicating it was a serious matter for her. Lively initially filed a lawsuit against Baldoni for sexual harassment and unprofessional behavior, to which Baldoni has responded with a countersuit for defamation and extortion against Lively, Reynolds, and their publicity team.
