Canadian Singer Faces Backlash for Supporting Team USA
Pop singer Tate McRae is getting some heat after she showed her support for Team USA in the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics.
McRae, who was born in Canada, appeared in an ad for the Olympics on Instagram, expressing her excitement to meet Team USA in Milan.
Some fans were not happy with her decision to support the American team, with many calling her a “traitor” online.
In response, McRae posted a picture of herself as a child holding a Canadian flag, writing, “… y’all know I’m Canada down.”
McRae’s career started with dance at a young age and singing. She gained fame after competing on “So You Think You Can Dance” and later went viral with her original song “One Day.”
She signed with a record label in 2019 and released several successful songs, including “You Broke Me First,” which became popular on TikTok. She recently finished her “Miss Possessive Tour”
She previously dated fellow musician Kid LAROI, and the relationship ended after a year. McRae has been linked to New Jersey Devils hockey star Jack Hughes but the rumors is not clarified, who is expected to play for Team USA in the 2026 Olympics.
