An Oklahoma man is in trouble after a Christmas Day shooting. Cody Wayne Adams, 33, is accused of accidentally killing an older woman while practicing shooting in his yard.
The woman, Sandra Phelps, was sitting on her porch with family, holding a baby, when she was hit by a bullet. Police say Adams was shooting a new gun he got for Christmas.
Investigators say Adams was shooting towards the ground, but there was nothing to stop the bullets from going beyond his property. After the shooting, Adams told police he was sorry.
Adams has been charged with manslaughter and is out on bond. He’s due back in court in February.
