David Kinne faced more than just elimination from the reality show “Survivor” on April 23; he also lost a significant relationship when he failed to bring home the grand prize. Kinne, who was voted out of season 48 during this episode, revealed that his girlfriend had made it clear she would move on if he didn’t return with the $1 million reward.
In an interview, Kinne confirmed that shortly after his exit from the game, his girlfriend ended their relationship. He commented, “People probably laughed at that whole thing, but it was unfortunately true.”
However, Kinne’s spirit isn’t entirely dampened. At 39, he shared he’s now dating someone new, whom he describes as “the most incredible woman.” Expressing his gratitude, Kinne said, “She’s phenomenal. I’m truly feeling blessed right now,” even adding that he is grateful for the outcome, reflecting, “I’m almost glad I didn’t win a million dollars.”
During the tribal council that led to his elimination, Kinne expressed that he felt “blindsided” by the decision, especially given his strong alliances in the game. He noted, “There are so many emotions going through that moment. I truly believe they got it wrong.” He emphasized that he was committed to his allies, stating he was “the ride or die kind of guy” who was prepared to go all the way with his team.
Kinne had previously excitedly announced his participation in the season through social media, describing the experience as “nothing short of surreal.” He had high hopes for himself, mentioning in his introduction that he aimed to conquer more challenges than any contestant before him.
With new episodes airing every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, fans are eager to see how the season unfolds.
