Subway Manager Arrested for Allegedly Imprisoning Young Girl
A Subway manager in Jacksonville, Florida, has been arrested for allegedly locking a 10-year-old girl in a room after she stepped on a freshly mopped floor.
The incident occurred on July 21, when James Anthony Morris Jr., 33, reportedly took the girl to the back of the restaurant and locked her in a room. According to a report by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the girl’s mother initially thought Morris was just joking, but soon became worried when she couldn’t find her daughter.
As the mother attempted to open the door, Morris allegedly pushed it shut, leading to a confrontation. The mother eventually managed to force the door open, rescuing her child.
Witnesses, including another Subway employee, confirmed that they heard the commotion and felt Morris’s actions were odd. Police estimate that the girl was locked in the room for about two minutes.
The girl told police that Morris gripped her hand tightly and made negative remarks about her parents, making her feel frightened and believe she was being kidnapped. Fortunately, she reported that there were no inappropriate advances made toward her.
Morris, who did not speak during his arrest, was charged with false imprisonment of a child under 13 years old. He was booked into jail and later released on bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 13.
