A Texas college student named Aidan Poole, who is 19 years old, is now dealing with serious burns after a car accident. He was on his way to the Texas Tech campus on September 7 when another driver hit his car from behind.
The other driver, Thomas Rich, has been arrested for driving under the influence.
Aidan’s girlfriend, Jadzia, said she was shocked when she got the call about the accident. She could hear sirens and Aidan crying in the background.
Aidan’s mother, Kristi Poole, said it’s heartbreaking to see her son in the hospital with such severe burns. She said Aidan was awake during the accident and tried to escape the burning car.
Kristi and her husband, James, are spending as much time as possible with Aidan in the hospital. They stay near the hospital and have dinner with him every night.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Aidan and his family with expenses. The page says that Aidan’s car was hit so hard that it flew into the air, and the gas tank exploded when it landed.
Aidan’s injuries are described as “catastrophic.” He is in the burn unit of a hospital in Lubbock and needs several surgeries. He is also dealing with emotional trauma from the crash.
Aidan is described as a smart, kind, and funny person who is loved by many. His family is facing big costs for a place to stay, food, travel, and medical bills.
