You might know her as Emma Stone, but for a brief period, the acclaimed actress went by a different name.
During a recent TV appearance, Stone shared that early in her career, she used the name “Riley Stone” for about six months. This was because the Screen Actors Guild, which helps protect actors, doesn’t allow multiple members to have the same name. At the time, another “Emily Stone” already existed, Emily is actually Emma’s real name.
Stone said that at 16, she picked “Riley” but soon found it didn’t quite fit. While working on the show “Malcolm in the Middle,” people calling out “Riley” on set caused confusion, as she didn’t immediately realize they were referring to her.
Ultimately, she switched to Emma, a name she liked because of the pop group Spice Girls and close enough to her real name, Emily.
Stone’s career took off with roles in movies like “Superbad,” “Zombieland,” and “Easy A.” She later starred in bigger films like “The Help” and “The Amazing Spider-Man”. Her hard work and talent led to her winning the Best Actress Oscar for “La La Land” in 2016 and again in 2023 for “Poor Things,” solidifying her position as a top actress in Hollywood.
