Virginia’s New Governor Voices Concerns
Richmond, VA – Abigail Spanberger was sworn in as the new governor of Virginia on Saturday. In her speech, she talked about worries she has about the direction of the country.
Spanberger, who won against Winsome Earle-Sears, said that many people are concerned about what’s happening in Washington. She mentioned policies that could hurt local communities, make it harder to get healthcare, and make things more expensive for families.
The new governor also said that some policies might not help businesses grow and could affect those who have worked hard in public service.
Spanberger expressed concern that while some are doing well, schools are falling apart and the system that helps people in need is being weakened. She believes this betrays American values.
She highlighted that everyday costs, like groceries and electricity, are going up, putting a strain on families.
Spanberger said her parents taught her to speak up when something is wrong and to take action to fix it. She acknowledged that not everyone might agree with her views, but she hopes to find common ground and work together for the good of Virginia.
Former Governor Glenn Youngkin shared a video saying it was a great honor to serve the state.
