A 25-year-old man named Luis Miguel Huitron Campos has been charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated murder and one count of first-degree arson in connection with the deaths of his father and brother in Gig Harbor, Washington. According to investigators, Luis allegedly shot both men before setting their home on fire to hide the crime.
The incident occurred on April 8, when emergency services responded to a fire at the family’s residence. Firefighters discovered the bodies of 64-year-old Oliverio Huitron-Rosalez, and 31-year-old Alejandro Huitron Campos inside the burning house. Autopsy results revealed that both men had been shot in the back of the head, and their deaths have been ruled homicides.
Neighbors reported that Luis did not attend the memorial services for his father and brother, leading some family members to believe he had gone missing. Investigators later found evidence suggesting that the fire was intentionally set, recovery of a shell casing and two gas cans at the scene supported this theory.
As detectives dug deeper, they found that Luis’s phone records placed him near the house during the fire. Additionally, it was revealed that he had a concealed-pistol license and previously acquired a firearm that matched the shell casing found at the scene.
A family member disclosed that Oliverio had recently attempted to withdraw a substantial sum of money, further fueling speculation regarding potential motives. After his arrest by a SWAT team, Luis was charged and has pleaded not guilty. He is currently held on a $5 million bond, although it remains unclear if he has legal counsel.
This tragic case is still under investigation as authorities seek more information surrounding the events leading to this shocking incident.
