Michigan Interstate Closed After Massive Pileup
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – A major winter storm caused a large pileup on Interstate 196 in Michigan on Monday, involving over 100 vehicles. State police had to shut down the road in both directions near Grand Rapids while they worked to clear the wreckage.
Authorities reported several injuries but thankfully no fatalities. Drivers described limited visibility due to heavy snow, which contributed to the chain-reaction crashes.
The incident is part of a larger weather system affecting much of the country. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for cold temperatures and winter storms across multiple states.
Stranded drivers were taken to a local high school where they could find assistance. Officials worked for hours to clear the road and get traffic moving again. Towing companies worked hard in the freezing temperatures to remove vehicles from the scene.
