It seems the celebrated rock band Twisted Sister has called off their planned 50th-anniversary shows. This announcement follows the resignation of their long-time lead singer, Dee Snider, due to some health concerns.
According to a recent announcement from the band, the cancellation impacts all scheduled performances, starting in late April and continuing through the summer. The remaining band members mentioned that the future of Twisted Sister will be decided in the coming weeks.
Dee Snider’s departure comes after a public statement revealed the physical toll that decades of energetic performances have had on him. Snider has been dealing with degenerative arthritis and has also discovered the intense nature of his performances has affected his heart. As Snider himself put it, he doesn’t know any other way to perform other than giving it his all, and he’d rather step away than be a lesser version of himself.
Twisted Sister first burst onto the music scene in the early 1970s, with Snider joining in 1976. They became a sensation with their 1984 album “Stay Hungry,” known for its hits. Despite disbanding in 1988, they reunited in 1997 and have performed together since.
Snider has previously shared the difficulties he faced after the initial breakup of the band, including financial struggles. He emphasized the importance of sharing these stories to remind others they aren’t alone in facing hard times.
