Simone Biles Shines at 2025 ESPY Awards
In a fantastic night for sports, Simone Biles took home notable honors at the 2025 ESPY Awards, held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The celebrated gymnast won the award for Best Athlete: Women’s Sports, making this her second win in this category, having last achieved it in 2017. Biles also received the ESPY for Best Championship Performance earlier that evening, showcasing her exceptional talent.
During her acceptance speech, Biles expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you — again.” She emphasized the importance of support in sports and thanked ESPN for increasing its focus on women’s athletics.
Biles, who is now 28, has had a remarkable career, totaling seven ESPY Awards. This year’s recognition follows her stellar performance at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where she won three gold medals and one silver.
“It’s an honor to receive this award,” Biles commented, reflecting on the support from her teammates, coaches, family, and fans. She stressed that having a solid support system is vital for success, especially in challenging times. “I wouldn’t be standing here without all of you,” she stated sincerely.
After her successful showing last summer, this recognition is a testament to her resilience, especially considering her earlier struggles during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when she faced severe mental hurdles known as “the twisties.” Often hailed as the greatest gymnast in history, Biles continues to inspire many with her unmatched accomplishments, including five moves in gymnastics that carry her name.
The ESPY Awards continue to celebrate outstanding sports achievements, and this year was no exception, highlighting the incredible journey of athletes like Simone Biles.
