Shooting Near Tacoma Leaves Seven Injured
On May 28, a shooting near Tacoma, Washington, resulted in injuries to seven individuals. The incident unfolded during a large gathering at a park, where tensions escalated between two groups, ultimately leading to gunfire.
Lakewood police reported that the scene became chaotic as many people attempted to flee after the shots rang out. Sergeant Charles Porche explained that officers found a large crowd enjoying the warm weather, and their arrival coincided with the confusion following the shooting.
Emergency responders from West Pierce Fire & Rescue transported five victims to the hospital, while three others made their way there independently. The victims included a 16-year-old girl, currently in stable condition, and a 38-year-old man, who is in critical condition. Three additional victims are listed as serious.
Porche described the violence as a tragedy, highlighting the unfortunate impact on innocent bystanders. Investigators are still working to determine the number of shooters involved and whether the victims were specific targets. So far, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
This shooting comes shortly after another mass shooting in Philadelphia, further emphasizing concerns about gun violence in the community.
