Sheriff Warns of Dangerous Manhunt for Missing Father
Authorities have heightened their search efforts for Travis Decker, a murder suspect described as “dangerous” and “unpredictable” by Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison. Decker, age 32, is wanted on three counts of first-degree murder and kidnapping following the tragic deaths of his three young daughters—Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5. The sisters were found deceased on June 2 in a remote area of Washington State.
The girls were last seen with Decker during a court-approved visit on May 30. Their bodies were located near his abandoned truck at Rock Island Campground, raising urgent concerns for their safety. Local and federal officials are now scouring the area for Decker, who has military training and survival skills.
Search teams have employed specialized dogs and searched mountainous regions and nearby water bodies, as two possible sightings of Decker have emerged recently—one on June 10 and another on July 5.
Sheriff Morrison emphasized the need for public awareness, stating, “We recognize he is dangerous and have informed citizens.” He mentioned the chilling nature of Decker’s alleged actions, implying the possibility of further unpredictability.
Authorities also suspect that he may have attempted to flee to Canada, as he searched for relocation information online before disappearing. Sheriff Morrison speculated that if Decker were dead, it could be due to an accident or injury.
Meanwhile, the mother of the girls, Whitney Decker, expressed a hope for closure, wishing to find Travis whether he is alive or not. The search continues, with a $20,000 reward offered for information leading to his capture.
