Former South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw, a celebrated figure in the state, experienced a medical emergency on Wednesday while coaching his son’s football team. Shaw, 33, was on the field at Gracely Park in Simpsonville, South Carolina, when he collapsed during the game.
Emergency services responded quickly, and Shaw was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital. Thankfully, reports indicate that he is now in stable condition. The city of Simpsonville released a statement expressing their support and prayers for Shaw’s swift recovery.
Shaw is remembered fondly by Gamecocks fans for his leadership and skill on the field from 2011 to 2013. Perhaps his most memorable moment was the “Miracle at Mizzou” in 2013, where he led the team to a remarkable comeback victory against Missouri despite battling an injury and illness.
After his successful college career, Shaw spent three seasons in the National Football League.
