Jennings Hints at Senate Run in Kentucky
Scott Jennings, a well-known commentator supporting former President Trump, recently addressed rumors about a possible Senate run in Kentucky. Jennings, who has gained recognition for his debates with more liberal guests on CNN, shared his thoughts during the White House Correspondents Dinner.
He remarked, “The internet is a wild place. There’s a long way to go until next May,” in reference to the upcoming elections. Jennings, who has worked with Mitch McConnell’s campaigns, expressed that he is flattered by the encouragement to run but also acknowledged that there is much time before making any decisions.
Reports indicate that Jennings believes having Republican senators has greatly benefited Kentucky. He noted the importance of having someone in the Senate who supports Trump’s agenda. “Politics is a team sport,” Jennings said, emphasizing that the president would have a say in who is selected for the role.
At a rally highlighting Trump’s first 100 days in office, the former president invited Jennings to speak, showcasing their supportive relationship.
Currently, notable figures like Rep. Andy Barr and former Kentucky Attorney General David Cameron are also contenders for McConnell’s seat. Speculation continues about businessman Nate Morris, a close ally of Vice President JD Vance, potentially joining the race.
In the Democratic primary, Kentucky House Minority Leader Pamela Stevenson is in the mix. With Trump having secured a significant victory in Kentucky during the last election, the state remains firmly Republican, aside from its Democratic governor, Andy Beshear.
As discussions continue around Jennings and other candidates, the political landscape in Kentucky is heating up as the election approaches.
