SCDOT to Close I-26 West Exit Ramp to Bush River Road
Columbia, SC – Starting overnight on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, drivers using the I-26 westbound exit ramp to Bush River Road will need to find a new route. The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has announced that the ramp will be closed as part of ongoing construction efforts.
To access Bush River Road from the west, motorists will now need to take the revised Colonial Life Boulevard and I-126 interchange. This change comes as construction progresses on the Carolina Crossroads Project, which aims to improve traffic flow in the area.
Officials indicate that this final stage of the project will result in a permanent change in traffic patterns along Bush River Road. This adjustment is intended to facilitate future enhancements to the I-26, I-20, and I-126 interchange.
For more clarity, the SCDOT has provided a map highlighting the area to avoid during the project.
Drivers are advised to plan their trips accordingly and look out for detour signs as the work proceeds.
