Amid Ongoing Conflict, U.S. Seeks Ukraine-Russia Peace
Abu Dhabi will host a new round of talks this week aimed at finding a resolution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. These talks, brokered by the U.S., follow previous discussions held last month in the same location, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that a delegation from Ukraine will attend. While the Trump administration has been working to encourage both sides to reach an agreement, significant disagreements remain.
Peskov acknowledged the complexity of the negotiations, stating that while some progress has been made on certain issues, others remain challenging. One major sticking point is the status of Ukrainian territory currently held by Russia, particularly in eastern Ukraine. Russia is seeking to retain control over these areas, including territory it has not yet fully captured.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that civilian areas in Ukraine continue to suffer from attacks, causing casualties and damage to critical infrastructure, leaving many without essential services.
Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said Ukraine is working to prevent the misuse of Starlink satellite services by Russia for guiding drones. Ukraine is requiring Starlink users to register their devices to prevent unauthorized use.
