Rosie O’Donnell Takes Aim at Trump During Comedy Show in Dublin
Rosie O’Donnell is not backing down from her long-standing feud with former President Donald Trump. While performing at the International Comedy Club in Dublin, O’Donnell touched on Trump’s recent remarks about her citizenship, remarking that his comments were “absurd.”
“I got a text from a smart guy at the Democratic National Committee asking if I was okay. I replied, ‘Not really, I’m more upset about Ireland losing than about Trump’,” O’Donnell shared with the audience.
Trump had made waves online by suggesting he might revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship, calling her a “threat to humanity.” O’Donnell responded to this by noting that in America, you can’t lose your citizenship without renouncing it yourself. She also pointed out the unusual nature of Trump’s statements, suggesting they were more of a joke than a serious threat.
During her set, O’Donnell laughed off Trump’s comments, saying, “This guy is just out of control.” She detailed her response on social media, which went viral, drawing attention to her ongoing rivalry with Trump.
Reflecting on their history, O’Donnell mentioned that their feud dates back to her days on “The View,” claiming Trump has insulted her for years. “He’s called me names and threatened to sue me,” she said. Despite their contentious relationship, O’Donnell expressed a certain pride in the fact that Trump’s attempts to belittle her only seem to boost her visibility.
O’Donnell pointed out that her jokes about Trump were well-received in Ireland, where she felt welcomed and appreciated, unlike in the United States. “Ireland has been my salvation,” she stated, suggesting that moving away from the political drama in America was a breath of fresh air for her.
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson responded to O’Donnell’s comments, saying, “It’s sad to see Rosie meltdown like this, but at least she’s not in America while doing it. God bless the Irish!”
In a world where political tensions often overshadow personal disputes, O’Donnell’s humorous take on her adversary shows how she navigates her experience in a lighthearted manner, all while keeping the audience engaged with her charm and wit.
