Trump’s Citizenship Comments Spark Controversy with O’Donnell
Former President Donald Trump recently reignited his long-standing rivalry with comedian Rosie O’Donnell. In a post on his social media platform, he suggested considering the revocation of O’Donnell’s U.S. citizenship after she relocated to Ireland earlier this year.
Trump, 79, expressed his thoughts with a bold statement: “Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country. I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
O’Donnell, 63, quickly countered Trump’s remarks, posting a collage of images on social media to voice her criticism. The “A League of Their Own” star has been vocal about her disdain for Trump, claiming that his behavior and leadership pose a danger to the nation.
In one of her posts, she accused Trump of being a “criminal con man” and stated that she had moved to Ireland to escape what she described as his harmful influence. “The president has always hated the fact that I see him for who he is,” O’Donnell wrote. She also expressed defiance against Trump’s citizenship comments, asking, “You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try.”
This public spat is not new; O’Donnell and Trump have been at odds since 2006 when she criticized him on “The View.” Over the years, their feud has persisted, with O’Donnell often attacking Trump’s policies and character, especially following his election as president.
Despite the heated exchanges, O’Donnell’s citizenship seems secure. The 14th Amendment protects the rights of individuals born in the U.S., and legal experts suggest that the government cannot arbitrarily revoke citizenship unless fraud is proven or specific legal actions are taken, such as treason.
The ongoing conflict illustrates the deep divisions within American society today, highlighting how public figures engage in disputes that mirror broader political tensions.
